Lawrence hosts Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration

On Monday, Jan. 15, the 33rd annual Fox Valley Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration was held at 6 p.m. in the Lawrence Memorial Chapel. The celebration featured members of the Appleton and Lawrence community who have exemplified King’s leadership and goals of unity.

Bringing the beat back: LU pep band rises again

Though it started as a chance encounter, co-presidents of the recently revitalized Lawrence University pep band, sophomores Rebecca Reynolds and Ella Lysne, found themselves scrambling to set up more chairs at their first rehearsal for the large turnout in the weekend between Weeks 2 and 3. Lawrence’s pep band has ebbed and flowed in and out of existence for a long while, but this year, the duo hopes to establish it as an integral part of Lawrence’s culture.

New art exhibit showcases San Francisco

Are you looking to escape the wintery weather? Stop by the Wriston Art Center and take in a new exhibit by Kayla Bauer, on display in the Hoffmaster Gallery until Mar. 8. Titled “The End of Somewhere,” the exhibit honors Bauer’s deep appreciation for San Francisco.

Are we losing the snow day?

It’s an odd time for snow days. Last week, as the snow poured down from the sky for what seemed like 48 straight hours, I got to sleep in a little bit and enjoy a slow morning in my pajamas before settling into the couch with my steaming mug of coffee to… log into Zoom class.
